Accounting and HR Administrator

Pay: $28.00 – $31.25 per hour

Location 92 Pitkin St, East Hartford Full-Time | On-Site

We are seeking a detail-oriented and organized Accounting and HR Administrator to support our finance and human resources operations. This role is responsible for assisting with accounting activities, maintaining financial records, supporting payroll, HR processes and employee administration, and ensuring compliance with applicable regulations and internal policies. The ideal candidate will have a strong knowledge of accounting, experience with HR administrative processes, and the ability to maintain confidentiality while working in a regulated financial environment. The candidate must be reliable, efficient, and able to manage multiple responsibilities in a fast-paced environment.

Key Responsibilities:

Accounting

· Assist with daily accounting operations including accounts payable, accounts receivable, and general ledger entries

· Prepare and record invoices, payments, and expense reports

· Assist with daily and monthly journal entries

· Assist with monthly financial reporting and bookkeeping tasks

· Maintain accurate financial records and documentation in accordance with credit union policies and regulatory requirements

· Support budgeting, audits, and financial reviews

Human Resources

· Maintain employee files and HR records

· Assist with recruitment, onboarding, and employee orientation

· Process bi-weekly payroll

· Coordinate payroll information and employee benefits administration

· Track employee attendance, leave requests, and time records

· Ensure compliance with company policies and labor regulations

· Provide administrative support for HR initiatives and employee communications

· Maintain confidentiality of employees and organizational information

Qualifications

· Bachelor’s degree in Accounting, Finance, Human Resources, or Business Administration preferred

· 2+ years of experience in accounting, bookkeeping, HR administration, or a similar role

· Knowledge of basic accounting principles and HR processes

· Proficiency in Microsoft Office, especially Excel

· Experience with accounting or payroll software is a plus

Senior Accountant

Pay: $80,000 – $90,000 per year

Work Location: In person-92 Pitkin St., East Hartford CT.

Job Summary

We are seeking a highly motivated and detail-oriented Senior Accountant to join our dynamic finance team. In this pivotal role, you will oversee complex accounting functions, ensure compliance with GAAP (Generally Accepted Accounting Principles), and support the organization’s financial integrity. Your expertise in accounting systems, financial software, and analytical skills will drive accurate reporting and strategic decision-making. This position offers an exciting opportunity to contribute to a fast-paced environment where your technical accounting knowledge and leadership will make a significant impact.

Duties
Oversee and manage the financial, accounting and bookkeeping functions of the credit union, which include:
a. Prepare and enter daily and monthly general ledger transactions including investment activity and daily cash transaction entries.
b. Post and reconcile the subsidiary records for the accrued income and accrued liabilities.
c. Set-up and run all prepaid and fixed asset items on the depreciation schedule.
d. Maintain Flex Modules for investments, prepaids and fixed assets.
e. Post/balance debit card/ATM and credit card program(s) activity.
f. Complete monthly Allowance for credit losses (ACL) calculations to determine required funding levels.
g. Reconcile revenue reports, and unbilled variances.
h. Monitor the daily/weekly/monthly cash position of the credit union.
i. Reconcile the cash accounts and miscellaneous clearing account daily and follow up with discrepancies within 2 business days.
j. Review Daily compare report daily and correct/follow up on any discrepancies to make sure all divisions and accounts are in balance
k. Review all GL transactions monthly to make sure postings have been made correctly and identify if any accruals or adjustments need to be made.
l. Complete monthly reconciliations on all balance sheet accounts.
m. Research and explain any large variances on the balance sheet or income statement.
n. Complete end-of-month close process and produce monthly financial statements, consolidated and by division.

· Conduct data entry and analysis utilizing Excel formulas, including VLOOKUP functions, to support financial reporting and audit processes.

· Assist with month-end, quarter-end, and year-end closing activities, including financial statement preparation and tax preparation in accordance with GAAP standards.

Qualifications

· Bachelor’s degree in Accounting, Finance, or a related field is preferred.

· Extensive experience in public accounting or corporate accounting environments with a strong understanding of GAAP principles.

· Demonstrated expertise in double-entry bookkeeping, journal entries, account reconciliation, and general ledger management.

· Strong analytical skills with the ability to interpret financial data using Excel data analysis techniques including formulas like VLOOKUP and advanced Excel functions.

· Familiarity with governmental accounting standards and non-profit accounting practices is advantageous.

· Excellent attention to detail combined with strong organizational skills; ability to manage multiple priorities efficiently.
