VP, IT & Cyber Security 

Exempt Position 

Reports to:  President/CEO 

Work location:  Hybrid, involves travel to locations within Connecticut as needed 

America’s First Network Credit Union (AFN CU), located in East Hartford, Connecticut, has a unique opening to join our Management Team as Vice President, IT & Cyber Security.  We have offices located throughout Connecticut as well as an office in Arkansas, focused on providing financial products and services that will help our membership improve their financial lives.

Position Purpose: 

Responsible for the efficiency of the credit union’s technology infrastructure to include hubs, switches, enterprise routers, servers and network hardware and software. Coordinate information system (IS) projects with management, users, staff and vendors. Serve as project leader with overall responsibility for project implementation. Recommend changes, upgrades or new products as a result of on-going administration of the network. Research and resolve network problems for end users. Install hardware and software. Act as liaison for outside contacts, vendors and examiners. Responsible for compliance with all related CT Department of Banking, NCUA, state and federal laws and regulations. Serve as the credit union’s Security Officer.  Contribute as part of the AFN CU Management Team. 

Primary Duties and Responsibilities: 

  • Work with the President/CEO setting and implementing short and long-term technology objectives. 
  • Support AFN CU’s local area and wide area network hardware and software.  Ensure all functions, systems, PCs, servers and peripheral products are operational. 
  • Maintain the integrity and security of the credit union’s technology infrastructure. 
  • Research, diagnose and troubleshoot IT problems, providing solutions to correct and/or improve performance. 
  • Respond to user problems.  Troubleshoot, debug and resolve problems. 
  • Provide individual support to end users. 
  • Install, configure and test new servers. 
  • Responsible for all electronic integrations due to mergers. 
  • Serve as primary IT contact on merger team, providing solutions to ensure smooth transition.  
  • Maintain complete and accurate documentation and support services/warranties for new equipment, software, hardware and peripherals. 
  • Install and test new software for the network and individual users. 
  • Schedule and test the disaster recovery plan.  Make recommendations and implement changes based on testing results. 
  • Administer the VolP phone system. 
  • Complete due diligence reviews on any vendor relationships that impact the IT or cyber security aspects of the credit union. 
  • Serve as the credit union Security Officer.  Maintain knowledge of related State and Federal laws/regulations to ensure compliance. 
  • Complete all required IT/Cyber Security risk assessments on an ongoing basis. 
  • Responsible for creating and revising all IT, cyber and physical security policies and procedures. 
  • Monitor staff training logs.  Conduct annual Board training on Information and Cyber Security.  

Education and/or Experience: 

Bachelor’s Degree in computer-related discipline and 5 to 7 years’ relevant experience with applications support, or an equivalent combination of education and experience.  Basic understanding of IT network and system infrastructure.  Knowledge of Core Provider Banking systems (CMC Flex, Fiserve, etc.) systems is a plus.
